Setup for viewing holograms
Some simple ideas in scratch hologram viewing arrangement, that can greatly improve image visual quality.
Using mirror backed hologram
I found that placing a mirror on the hologram’s back side, gently increase image brightness. Reason of this behavior may be that in this case the hologram is working in both transmission an reflection mode at the same time.
Viewing setup
When viewing you should stay approximately 3 m from the hologram. It has to be placed at eyes level and illuminated using spotlight hanging 30 cm above the head. Best images are seen when focus slightly disappears over the top mirror border.
This setup allows to get surprisingly deep images, that seem to float half a meter in front of the transparency sheet.
When viewer approaches to the hologram, image loses in sharpness and starts to degrade.
